The “Dangerous” Gap in my Schedule ✂️ I had a 30-minute gap between clients today, and if you’ve been following me for a while, you know that’s a dangerous place for me to be. When I’m left alone with a mirror and a razor, things happen. In this video, I’m taking you along while I refresh my bixie and lean into my natural grays, but we’re also going a lot deeper than just a haircut. What we’re talking about today: • Why I’ve been doing my own hair since I was 15 (and the midnight disaster that changed everything). • My journey with EDS, Fibromyalgia, and MCAS—and how an autoimmune flare led to the alopecia spot I’ve spent years designing around. • Why I believe “Form Follows Function” is the most important principle in hairdressing. I believe your hair should be a foundation, not a chore. If you have to fight your hair every morning, the architecture of the cut failed you. Hi, I’m Karli. It’s been a minute, and I realized I haven’t properly reintroduced myself — especially with so many new faces here. I’m a hairstylist based in Wildomar, Ca. working out of The Colour Parlor. And my work is built around one core belief: Your hair should make your life easier, not harder. I use modern techniques with intention — focusing on cuts and color that grow out well, age well, and still look intentional weeks later, not just the day you leave the chair. Longevity, realistic maintenance, and honesty in the consultation process matter a lot to me. If something won’t suit your lifestyle, your texture, or how much time you want to spend maintaining it, I’ll tell you — kindly and clearly. I work with a lot of people who: • want their hair to feel like them again • care about how their hair lives day to day • value calm, trust, and precision over pressure or trends-for-trends’-sake • appreciate understanding the why, not just the what I’m also neurodivergent, which shapes how I work in a really positive way. I’m detail-oriented, highly observant, and very intentional. I don’t rush people, and I don’t rush decisions. My chair is a grounded, collaborative space — not a chaotic one. This color humbled me. I created a Wicked-inspired shade for the For Good premiere, named Eleka Nahmen — a color that literally eluded the camera. Indoors it went gray. Outside it shifted. In direct sunlight it finally whispered who it really was. I almost didn’t post this because it didn’t photograph the way it existed in real life… but maybe that’s the point. Some colors are magic. BEFORE: choppy, splotchy, over-processed + holes along the perimeter. PLAN: rebuild the shape with a razored bixie, remove internal weight, soften those harsh steps. COLOR: an all-over demi to even the canvas + lock in shine, finished with a peekaboo pop in the fringe. RESULT: blended, light, and wearable movement.
